How does an Mpayy transaction work?

  • Person-to-Person Payer - Payer makes payment through Mpayy's website, mobile website or widget to another Mpayy member. Payer will immediately receive an email confirmation of the payment. Mpayy will move the Stored Value from the Payer's account, or conduct a WEB Debit from the Payer's bank account that night. If there is a failure due to insufficient funds or for any other reason, Mpayy will re-present the WEB Debit the next night.
  • Person-to-Person Payee - Payee will receive a text message notification of the payment immediately, and an email notification when the funds have been moved into the Payee's Mpayy account. The email will come two days after the payment because Mpayy allows time for re-presentment.
  • Mobile Merchant Payer - Payer makes payment through Mpayy's website, mobile website or widget to an Mpayy merchant.
  • Mobile Merchant Payee - Payee will receive a text message receipt of the Guaranteed Payments immediately upon payment. The funds will be available in the Merchant's account that night.

  • How much does Mpayy cost?

  • Personal accounts: Free to open and free to use. We charge $10.00 if you request a paper check be mailed to you, but this should be easily avoided by withdrawing money into you linked bank account or sending money to a friend.
  • Mobile Merchant Account: Free to open and free to send/buy and $0.20 + 2.00% per received transaction
  • Retailer Pro: Fees are set on an individual basis and are based transaction volumes and type of retailer.

    Is Mpayy secure?

  • Mpayy securely encrypts all sensitive member data and stores it in our hosting data centers, primary and real-time backup, which are provided by U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB).
  • Your accounts are protected against unauthorized transactions above $50.00 just like credit cards and you can also dispute purchases, just like credit card, through our online dispute capability.
  • Your bank account information and credit card information is not transmitted to retailers or to other members.

What does Mpayy do with my bank account information?

  • Account numbers are not visible to any Mpayy employees. Account information is encrypted within the application and used simply to transfer and receive funds.
  • Mpayy will never transfer your bank account information to any third party. Mpayy members who receive money through Mpayy have no visibility into the sensitive account information of any other member.

  • What does Mpayy do with members’ money?

  • All Mpayy members’ funds are held on account with Mpayy at U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB). U.S. Bancorp also provides all the transaction settlement services. For more information about U.S. Bancorp please link to US Bank. Mpayy’s corporate accounts and funds are held at a separate bank.

Does Mpayy require a special phone or software?

  • NO. Any device that can access the Internet, e.g., cell phone, iPhone, Blackberry, Treo, laptop, etc, and receive SMS or email can be used to send and receive payments or turned into a mobile point-of-sale device. You do not need to download any software. The few older cell phones using mobile web 1.0 cannot be used to send money from your phone, but those are pretty hard to find these days.

Does it matter who my wireless carrier is?

  • NO. Mpayy works with all carriers.

  • What if I don’t have a Mobile Phone?

  • You can open a Personal Universal Mpayy account without a mobile phone to make purchases only. You are not able to receive funds until your account has a verified Mobile device, but you should really get yourself a cell phone.

What if my cell phone doesn’t have Mobile Web Access?

  • You can use Mpayy through any machine that has access to the Internet and you can receive money, but you cannot send money or make a payment from your phone. Adding mobile web will enable you to use your phone to make purchases and send money with your phone.

Why do I need to verify my device?

  • At Mpayy, your personal identifier is either your mobile phone or mobile Email address. In order for us to locate you and bring you the money someone is trying to send you, you must verify your mobile device.

What if I can’t find my Verification Code?
  • Mpayy will re-send you the verification code once per week until you Verify your mobile device. However, you can also receive a new verification code at any time. Simply log into your account, click “Modify Mobile Device” from your Account Dashboard. Confirm the information presented there and click “Update”, and Mpayy will send you a new verification code right away.

    Why the identity verification process?

  • The identify verification process is to help keep Mpayy safe and eliminate fraud. It also facilitates enforcing our policies and other violations of rules and laws. Because Mpayy operations involve moving funds from and to bank accounts, it is in the best interests of Mpayy and its members to take all steps to validate identities and non-criminal status of members with whom it transacts. Mpayy seeks to ensure that all transactions are conducted between honest parties and comply with the law. Mpayy complies with the USA Patriot Act and Office of Foreign Assets Control policies as well as money laundering statutes and provides anti-fraud protection to all Merchants.

If you don’t recognize the Digital Signet, you should not trust the communication and should contact Mpayy Customer Service immediately.

  • Will Mpayy use my E-Mail or Cell Phone number to send third-party marketing messages?

  • NO! Mpayy will never sell or rent your name or personal information.
  • Mpayy knows that SPAM E-Mails are terribly annoying and come en masse, and text message marketing is increasing. Mpayy will never provide your information to a 3rd party, and all messaging sent to you from Mpayy will be focused on transactions you are conducting through Mpayy, to communicate Account Information, or to inform you of Mpayy specific offers such as promotions, contests or member discounts.
